A Message from Mr. Thompson
Glen Rock Middle School has established a tradition of high academic achievement and behavioral standards while maintaining a child centered environment. We serve as the transitional link between the elementary schools and the high school. A culture has been created here that provides a challenging curriculum, a variety of learning methods and assessments which foster high level learning, and a structure which helps to build and maintain positive relationships. It is our goal to work with teachers, parents, students and community members to develop life long learners and responsible citizens.
All 6th grade students participate in “block classes” which serve as small learning communities within the grade level. As the students progress through 7th and 8th grade, they gain more independence as they work with an increasing number of subject area teachers and travel to more classes.
Outside of the classroom, Glen Rock Middle School offers a number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These include a student government, a large number of clubs and interscholastic as well as intramural sports. These offer countless opportunities for students to develop their leadership, creative, social and physical skills.
We have a wonderful relationship with our HSA which continues to support a large number of well-planned and well-organized social functions.
Please read through our website. We believe you will gain some insight into the culture which is Glen Rock Middle School. If you have any questions pertaining to the middle school, please do not hesitate to contact me.
